Craiglockhart News: Intention to Redevelop Craighouse Site
Sundial Properties/Craighouse Partnership held their initial public exhibition in September 2011 and held three more exhibitions in March 2012 with revised and refined plans. Their current proposals for the site can be viewed in PDF form by using the links on their website here. N.B. These are still proposals rather than formally submitted plans.
It is worth checking the Craighouse Partnership website periodically for any updates by them.
At the end of last year Craighouse Parnership held separate meetings with representatives from Morningside Community Council and Craiglockhart Community Council to listen to further comments and to provide updates on their latest thinking. Brief minutes of these meetings have been prepared and are available here for Morningside and here for Craiglockhart. Since then there has been set up a Craighouse Community Liaison Forum with representatives from Morningside Community Council, Craiglockhart Community Council, Merchiston Community Council, Friends of Craighouse, South Morningside Primary School Parent Council, Craiglea Proprietors Association, Meadowspot Owners’ Association, Friends of Craiglockhart Woods and Nature Trail and Morningside Heritage Association. There have been independently chaired meetings of the forum where tabled questions and concerns have been put to the developer.
There has been concern amongst a considerable number of local residents, especially people in the Morningside Community Council area, about the possible developments. They have formed a group called Friends of Craighouse Grounds and Wood and have set up a website setting out their concerns. They also have a Facebook page for messages.
